About me
Dr. Christopher Timmis is the Superintendent of Dexter Community Schools, serving in that role since 2013. Prior to moving to Dexter, Dr. Timmis served as the Superintendent of Adrian Public Schools for 5 years. Throughout his career, Dr. Timmis has served Michigan students in a variety of positions: as a superintendent in two different districts; a high school principal; a curriculum director; a middle school and high school teacher; a coach; and as a paraprofessional. He holds an Ed.D. from Eastern Michigan University, a M.Ed. from Wayne State University and a B.A. from Adrian College.
Dr. Timmis is an innovative, visionary, and creative leader with a proven record of significantly improving educational and operational performance in multiple school districts. He is a founding member and currently serves as the President of the Future of Learning Council, a nonprofit organization created to lead innovation throughout Michigan schools. Dr. Timmis was a member of Transcend’s Learner Centered Leadership Lab (Cohort 4) and is a Google-GSV Fellow. He also served on the American Association of School Administrators governing board and Chairs the Huron Valley Ambulance board. Throughout his career, Dr. Timmis helped form the Michigan Competency Consortium, multiple local college access networks, and community foundations and funds.
Dr. Timmis has presented at conferences hosted by the Future of Learning Council, the National Conference on Education (AASA), the Michigan Association of Superintendents and Administrators, the Michigan Department of Education, the Michigan Leadership Institute’s SUPES Academy, the International Materials Engineering Summit, the National Boys & Girls Clubs of America Conference, and the Michigan Association of School Boards.
